Nivio was a solution to a headache which just would not go away. We liked the convenience and flexibility of internet applications, but they could never seriously compete with the features or power of desktop software. We realized that the solution was to bring the two worlds together.

With 96% of the world's computer users, Microsoft Windows was a clear starting point. We made a Windows desktop available online with a limited set of applications. Customers were quick to give their feedback, and we soon realized that it wasn't enough to simply put Windows online, we needed to develop the tools and services which would allow our customers to make the most of the platform we'd created. Nivio Centre was the first such tool allowing users to manage their billing, personal details and software through a single interface.

Today, you can use many of your favorite applications through Nivio, with more being added all the time. You can store documents, pictures and music, and access them wherever you are. And you can share it all with your friends.

In the last two decades the use of computers has become far more widespread that it was ever envisaged; more importantly the usage of computing itself has changed significantly from where it started in the days of the mainframe (scientific use) to where it is today (social, lifestyle use) with computers the size of your hand. The user has changed; they are not technical, watch satellite TV and simply want to consume computing rather than have to deal with its daily headaches...in short; they want computing to be like their television - on-demand, reliable, secure, and inexpensive and subscription based... The natural answer is to give them the facilities of computing but provided to them much like the systems they are used to such as Cable or Satellite TV.

Nivio provides the answer by completing the puzzle - by treating software like any other content it allows user to rent applications; enjoy parts of the service free through ad monetisation and more importantly have the same dependability & headache-less access like their other interactive systems (TVs don't get viruses, fall victim to spam, get out of date or crash!) - it works from existing PCs, Laptops through to its own little device called the Companion and eventually any internet-device that is "nivio enabled"; ubiquitous access everywhere.

Ultimately; whilst Nivio is "bleeding edge" in every respect (from technology to feature-set) it is clear that there are several verticals that it "converges over"; independently these verticals have tens of millions of users and market sizes in the 100s of millions of dollars if not in billions. These verticals converge through "inherent" features of having a computer that lives in the internet (i.e.no viruses, spam, updated and all software on demand) or through specific vertical assets (i.e. Live to share, nDrive to store!).

In other words; Nivio provides a service for the "today-world" and offers revolution for the "tomorrow-world" by taking people to it through a variety of "understood inroads" such as backup, sharing, mobility and then selling them on the total solution through the benefits of a converged platform. In certain emerging areas such as India these services are still nascent so the exponential growth is still to be seen here whereas in the developed markets the sell is in the fact that the service is a "one-stop" shop.

As an evolution of the service & the company; Nivio is looking at integrating other types of content and services such as IPTV to run over the underlying architecture and offer users an unparalleled converged experience - imagine having your favorite recorded programs in the same place as your family pictures in the same place as your docs and then accessible anywhere for you at anytime.
